INTRODUCING SOLIDS

Introducing solids to your baby

Baby gets enough nutrients from breastmilk. As the baby grows older, the demand for iron and nutrients gets more that they cant get enough from the breastmilk. So we introduce them to solids. Usually this happens in 5th or 6th month of the baby. And it is not recommended to introduce solids before 4 months. We need to watch the signs of the baby to see if they are really ready for solids. Here are some signs that you will notice.

  • has good head and neck control and can sit upright when supported
  • shows an interest in food – by looking at what’s on your plate, reaches out for your food
  • opens his mouth when you offer him food on a spoon.
