Ashwin’s Birth
On oct 11, at midnight 1:30am I went to loo and saw some blood loss. It was exactly like how I had it for Anya. So I tried to wake up Suresh to call the hospital. But Suresh told me in half sleep that it would be nothing and it better to sleep now and call the hospital next day morning. I insisted to call the hospital as I felt like it’s almost the time and the scheduled c section date was Oct 14. And I know for sure that baby is not going to wait till then and the hospital won’t reschedule the surgery as they dont plan it during weekend.
Finally we called hospital and they asked us to come over. We took all our stuff along with hospital bag. They monitored me for 1 hour and analyzed my blood loss to check if my water is broken. And confirmed that my water broke and the baby can come anytime in next 48 hrs. Until then they can’t keep me in hospital. So they sent us home. We came home by 3 am. I tried my best to sleep. But I felt the contractions coming. I started to track it through contractions tracker app. It was 3 mins apart by 5am. I asked Suresh to call the hospital again. He asked me to stay calm and told the hospital might not take us in now. It is better if we can wait for some more time. I felt the contractions getting intense and told like we are leaving now. Then Suresh called the hospital and they asked us to come over. Once we reached the hospital I felt the contractions getting stronger and stronger. They checked my dilation and said it was 3cm.
Then by 7am they made everything ready. And I was taken to the operation theatre. And everything took place very fast. I was given spinal and the surgery started. I found it very hard to breathing and felt like shivering. They said it is normal and gave a tube for my nose to breathe. I was so scared and had no idea if everything is going fine. Then finally they put the curtain down and made me see the baby born at 7:33am. It was a wonderful moment seeing my baby born and knowing everything went well.
They took some time to stitch. And a nurse took the baby to clean and suresh had to cut the cord. The baby was weighing 3.83 kg and 49 cm length. Suresh brought the baby closer to me so that I can take a look. Then a nurse took baby and Suresh to our room where Suresh had skin to skin with the baby.
I was taken to recovery room after the stitches by 9am. and was monitored for one hour there. I was so restless and wanted to go back to our room and stay with the baby. But they kept checking if my anesthesia is getting worn out and also checked my blood pressure.
Finally a nurse came and took me to our room and I was asked to breastfeed. It really went well. I was in the impression that baby might not latch well with c section and might have breathing problem too. But nothing was true in my case. Everything went well and I was so happy that the baby is doing very fine. It definitely is a proud moment for me! This scar is going to remind me how much I was stronger.
The next day morning they removed the IV line and
I was also able to walk and take bath myself. I felt very much better and was happy that the worst part of the surgery is over!
